Boflex Testing Standards (D.I.N.)
We recognize that an international set of standards measuring performance characteristics of sports surfaces is of value to specifiers and end users. We believe the DIN standard 18032 Part 2 has proven to be the most practical methodology for sports floor testing. The following chart lists the ratings for  the Boflex floor.

Floor Test

DIN Standard

Boflex Floor

Why this is important to you:

Shock Absorption

Minimum 53%

61%

Insufficient shock absorption in aerobic flooring causes activity related to injuries to ankle and knee joints. Correct shock absorption reduces fatigue and significantly lowers the risk of injury.
Resilience

Minimum 2.3mm

2.8mm

Inadequate energy return in an aerobic floor causes sore ankles and a surface too "hard" for safe, strenuous activity. Excessive energy return creates a trampoline effect and potential for injury.
Surface Friction

Minimum 0.5

Maximum 0.7

0.59

Rotation and pivoting motions create a strain on joints without the proper friction coefficients to minimize stress. On a friction scale of .1 (ice) to .9 (fly paper), .5-.7 is the DIN Standard. Boflex aerobic flooring at .5 is perfect, even providing for the demands of platform and other high impact routines.
Impact Isolation

W500

Maximum 15%

14.2

Without proper impact isolation, participants' movements can interfere with each other, creating the possibility of injury. The standard allows for 15% deflection, 20 inches from the point of impact. Boflex exceeds that by providing over 86% isolation at 20 inches.
Surface Stability

1500 Minimum 1500N

1500N

Proper foot stability is essential in order to reduce foot roll-over and other injuries. This is a fundamental advantage of the Boflex Aerobic Floor System compared to all carpeted aerobic surfaces.
